Boo-tiful Ideas for a Safe & Fun Pet-Friendly Halloween

Halloween is not just for children — your furry friends can have some Halloween fun too! With a little forethought, you can ensure that this season has a spooky but secure twist for your four-legged family members!

1. DIY Pet Treats (Safe for Dogs and Cats)

  • Forget the candy and create your own treats!

  • For dogs: Frozen pumpkin & peanut butter “pupsicles.”

  • For cats: Salmon & tuna treats cut into bite-size pieces.

2. Costume Photo Shoot

  • Rather than simply dressing them up, make a whole event with it!

  • Select a straightforward backdrop with pumpkins, hay bales, or fall leaves.

  • Take pictures of your pet in the costume and post on social media - tag our vet clinic so we can see too!

3. Have a mini Howl-O-Ween Party

  • Invite a few friends who share your love for pets for a backyard playdate.

  • Offer pet-safe treats and access to water bowls.

  • Host a 'Best Dressed' contest for pets (with a prize!)

  • Minimize noise levels and apply a simple décor to avoid overstimulating your pet.

4. Trick-or-Treat Practice

  • Show your pet a new trick, then reward them with treats each time a trick-or-treater arrives. This may change the doorbell from scary to fun!

5. Movie Night Cuddle

  • After celebrating, snuggle with your pet and watch a Halloween movie! (Nothing scary though; Hocus Pocus or Casper work!)
