In our rural clinics in Oakes, Edgeley, and Ellendale, we are fortunate to experience something meaningful every day—the relationship between families and their animals. From a loyal farm dog riding in the pickup to a purring housecat resting on a child’s lap, or a hard-working cow sustaining the family’s way of life, animals bring substance and comfort to our souls.
On this International Day of Veterinary Medicine, we take the time to recognize the wonderful profession of veterinary medicine and its importance to all of our communities—big and small.
Celebrating the Significance of Veterinary Medicine
Veterinary medicine is not about the diagnosis of ill health or the administration of vaccines. Rather, it is about compassion, good listening skills, and being willing to meet the animal where it is at—a little nervous, brave, stubborn, wiggly, or unexpectedly unpredictable.
It is about guiding families through the joys and challenges of puppies and kittens, through chronic illness, and through the inevitable difficult decisions that accompany love and responsibility.
It is also about providing services to local farmers and ranch families. Healthy cow herds keep the region thriving, and we are grateful to be a part of the lives of these remarkable people who are committed to local agriculture in one way or another and are part of our Southeast North Dakota community.
The Human-Animal Bond is the Foundation of Our Work
Every single appointment - big or small - matters. Whether it is an ear check, nail trim, or a precautionary vaccination, we understand that you are here to protect the bond you share with your animals. This bond is also why we are out here doing what we do - driving from one town to another, investing in technology, training, and items that will help us celebrate a day like today.
Expanding Veterinary Care to Rural Communities
Veterinary medicine is continuously changing, and so are we. When you think about better diagnostics, keeping the animals more comfortable with pain control, better vaccines, and accessibility through digital tools, we are committed to providing high-quality veterinary care in your own backyard.
International Day of Veterinary Medicine reminds us that rural practices are part of a larger family of innovation, compassion, and continuing education.
Thank You for Having Faith in Us
Above all else, today is about appreciation—thank you for allowing us to care for your pets and livestock. Thank you for sharing your stories, for asking questions, for trusting us to make the best choices for your animals, and for being part of a community that promotes healthy pets and healthy herds!
We look forward to many years of serving you—one pet, one cow, one family at a time!
